Vigilance nabs ASI for taking bribe Rs.10,000

CHANDIGARH:State Vigilance Bureau, today nabbed an ASI Jaswinder Singh posted at Police Station Jamalpur, Ludhiana red handed accepting bribe of Rs 10, 000.
Disclosing this here an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau Punjab said accused Assistant Sub-Inspector was arrested on the complaint of Ajay Tiwari of Jamalpur, Ludhiana. The complainant has informed the VB that the accused police official was demanding bribe of Rs. 25, 000 to exonerate him in a police case but the deal was struck at Rs. 20, 000.

After verifying his information, a vigilance team from Ludhiana laid a trap and the accused ASI was arrested on the spot while taking bribe of Rs. 10, 000 as first installment from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.

He informed that a case under section of prevention of corruption act has been registered against him at VB police station, Ludhiana and further investigation is under progress.
