Three years RI to former LIC Dev Officer and others in Cheating case

NEW DELHI:The Special Judge, CBI Cases, Raipur has sentenced Shri Tuka Ram Chaturvedi, then Development Officer, LIC Satellite Office, Tilda Bhatapara Branch(Chhattisgarh) to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment with a fine of Rs.10, 000/  Ashwant Sahu, then Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) Agent, Bhatapara Branch, Distt. Baloda Bazar (Chhattisgarh) to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment with a fine of Rs.14, 000/- and Smt. Uma Sahu @ Asha, then LIC Agent, Bhatapara Branch, Distt. Baloda Bazar (Chhattisgarh) to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment with a fine of Rs.10, 000/-.

CBI had registered this case on 07.03.2014 u/s 120-B, 420, 467, 468 & 471 of IPC and Section 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of P.C. Act, 1988 against the accused and unknown others. It was alleged that the accused in conspiracy with each other cheated Life Insurance Corporation of India to the tune of Rs.16, 10, 560/- (approx) through fraudulent death claims and further raised death claims to the tune of Rs.24 lakh/-(approx)

After investigation, the CBI filed a charge sheet on 03.12.2014 against the accused. The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted them.
