Sarkaria reviews plugging work at breaches in Ludhiana and Jalandhar

CHANDIGARH: The Water Resources Minister Punjab Mr. Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria on Wednesday evening reviewed the work of plugging in breaches on the banks of Sutlej river near Bholewal village in Ludhiana District.

The Minister also visited Meowal village in Jalandhar District, and reviewed the work of breach plugging. The Minister instructed the authorities to take all preventive steps to ensure the safety of residents besides directing them to accelerate the relief work.

Interacting with the affected people, the Minister said that Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh led Punjab Government is in full action mode to tackle the situation and has already commenced the relief works in affected areas and special Girdawari would be conducted after receding the water to assess crop damage due to heavy rains and breaches in the river.

On the occasion, Punjab Pradesh Congress General Secretary Mr. Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary and Jalandhar Rural Congress President Mr. Sukwinder Singh Lally were also present.
