Punjab univ.sSyndicate approves issue of 'PU’s merit-cum-means loan subsidy scheme'

CHANDIGARH: Punjab University, Chandigarh in its Syndicate Meeting
today deliberated on all the agenda items including 7 table agenda
items.....The Syndicate approved the issue of PU’s Merit-cum-Means
Loan Subsidy Scheme for self-financing courses in which the loan
subsidy has been enhanced from Rs. 25000/- to Rs. 50000/-. The amount
of loan subsidy shall be equal to 20% of the loan availed by the
student subject to a cap of Rs. 50000/- in each case.
The Syndicate approved recommendations of the Faculty of
Medical Science that the thesis of MD/MS candidates be evaluated by
the two external examiners for the admission for the year 2018-19.
The Syndicate approved the introduction of part-time
Certificate Courses in the Department cum Centre for Women Studies &
Development.

The Syndicate approved the implementation of policy for
grant of basic pay plus DA plus Grade Pays to the Daily Wage employees.
The Syndicate approved the proposal to start an MBA (Capital
Market) as a Self Finance Course at University Institute of Applied
Management Science (UIAMS) from the Session 2020-21.
The Syndicate deliberated on the issue of news items
published in Amar Ujala and Punjab Kesari dated 11.12.2019 regarding
the issue of anonymous letters to Faculty members condemning a Syndic. The
Syndicate unanimously strongly condemned the news item and it was
resolved that a notice followed by legal action on the concerned
newspapers be taken. Also, a police complaint should be filed
requesting an investigation to find out as to who is responsible for
issuing these letters.
