CBI arrests SHO and constable of Chandigarh Police in bribery case

CHANDIGARH: The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested   Baljeet Singh, Station House Officer, Police Station Mauli Jagran, Chandigarh ii) Surinder Rathi, Constable, Police Station Mauli Jagran, Chandigarh working in Police Station Mauli Jagran,  in a bribery case.

This was stated by  RK.Gaur, Spokesperson of the CBI. He said a case was registered on January 28,.2019 under section 7 of PC Act & Section 120-B of IPC against SHO and Constable on a complaint alleging that nephew of the complainant & other persons were detained in the said Police Station on the allegations of dealing with contraband goods and also stated to have recovered 2-3 packets of Charas from them. It was further alleged that SHO threatened and demanded a bribe of Rs.1,20,000/- in lieu of not registering a case against them. The bribe amount was re-negotiated and reduced to Rs.55,000/-.

CBI laid a trap and caught the Constable red-handed while demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.45,000/- on behalf of SHO. Searches are being conducted today at the residential and official premises of the accused.

Both the arrested accused will be produced tomorrow before the Competent Court, Chandigarh.
