Blood donation & Health checkup camp organized at Aryans Group

MOHALI: Aryans Group of Colleges, Rajpura, Near Chandigarh and Department of Blood Transfusion, PGI Chandigarh organized a “Blood Donation Camp” at Aryans Campus on Tuesday. On the occasion, a medical checkup camp was also organized by Simrita Nursing Home, Rajpura.

Dr. Sarabjit Singh, MD Medicine, Simrita Nursing Home, Rajpura was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

PGI team comprising doctors, Nurses and technicians under the leadership & guidance of Dr. Gurpreet Thiara, Assistant Blood Transfusion Officer (ABTO), PGI conducted thorough medical checkup of voluntary donors and selected the eligible donors to donate blood. The students were given certificates and donor cards along with refreshments.

Dr. Raonak Lamba, MD, Skin and Cosmetology; Dr. Om Parkash, MBBS and D (Ortho); Dr. Hergun Singh, MBBS, Medical Officer from Simrita Nursing Home conducted a health check-up camp. Medical guidance and prescription was given to hundreds including students, parents, local residents of villages etc.

Dr. Sarabjit applauded the efforts made by Aryans for organizing this camp. While motivating the local rural people he emphasized on a regular check-up and counseling during their examination and also stressed the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Dr. Anshu Kataria thanked all the donors, students and staff for organizing this camp successfully. While motivating the students he further said that a person can save 3 lives from 1 unit blood. He added that these camps not only provide blood to the blood banks but also were a great boon to the thalassemia and leukemia patients who need blood infusions frequently.
