Week Long Faculty Development Program in Khalsa College Amritsar

AMRITSAR: To enhance the technical skills of faculty and staff, a week-long Faculty Development Program on the “Role of Sensor Networks for the Integration of IOT and Cloud Computing in Modern Era” is being held at Khalsa College of Engineering and Technology (KCET), Amritsar. The program is being sponsored by AICTE and Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar, said Director-Principal Dr. Manju Bala.

At least 40 engineering institutions including Khalsa College of Management and Technology, Amritsar; DAVIET, Jalandhar; DAV University, Jalandhar; CT Group of Institutions, Jalandhar; Punjab Institute of Technology, Amritsar; Baba Kuma Singh Engineering College, Amritsar are participating.

Resource person Dr. Sandeep Sood, Dean, Guru Nanak Dev University, Regional Campus, Gurdaspur that everything is now connected through internet. "Now a day IOT is prevailing in each and every field; agriculture, health care, crime manufacturing, education. Hence its importance cannot be ignored. Integration of IOT and Cloud is the necessity of an hour and has wide scope in research”, said he.

He also focused on various challenges and issues related to large volume of data generated by sensor nodes, unstructured data and more. He motivated the participants to have an optimistic approach and advised them to become a perfect learner with clear understanding of concepts. He persuaded participants to bring out the new and creative ideas as “a small idea always bring a great change”, said he.

Dr Bala said that such interactions equip faculty and staff with such skills so that they can guide and motivate their students for better academic and research performances.
