Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar gets first position in Bhai Veer Singh Flower, Plants and Rangoli exhibition

JALANDHAR: Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar displayed its regard with elements of nature by bagging the first position in the Bhai Veer Singh Flower, Plants and Rangoli exhibition on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the establishment of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar whilst also lifting the Overall Flower Show Championship marking the Golden Jubilee of the University. President Governing Council Sardarni Balbir Kaur, Joint Secretary Mr. Jaspal Singh Waraich and College Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra congratulated and appreciated the team behind this magnificent effort lead by Dr SS Bains. Speaking on the occasion,

Sardarni Balbir Kaur, President, Governing Council recognized this achievement as the college's commitment to the cause of greenery and environment.

Principal Dr Gurpinder Singh Samra informed that the college participated in 24 various events concerning flower varieties and Rangoli. The college team subsequently won first ranks in 9 events and second rank in 10 events en route to lifting the overall championship. Top prizes were bagged in the flower categories of Small Flower Chrysanthemums, Marigold flower, Asparagus, Dieffenbachia, Ficus, Foliage/Ornamental Plants, Cacti Grafted, Succulents and Rangoli with artificial minerals along with second prizes in Large Flower Chrysanthemums, Aglaonema, Coleos, Crotons, Ferms, Palms, Monstera Plant, Bonsai plant and Rangoli with flower plants. Principal Dr. GS Samra also recalled the college's similar achievements in the same event last year acting as a basis for this year's feat. He also pledged that the college will do its utmost for the needs for a greener environment courtesy of its award-winning team along with regular plantation drives in and around the campus. Also present on this occasion were Prof. Gagandeep Kaur, Prof. Jaswinder Kaur, Prof. Geetanjali Moudgil, Prof. Upma Arora and Prof. Ajit Pal Singh along with students and members of the garden maintenance team of the college.
