MOHALI: The Rayat Bahra Group of Institutions (RBGI) has announced a 50 percent fee waiver to students seeking admission for the upcoming academic session in view of the economic slowdown during the ongoing curfew and lockdown because of Covid-19 conditions which have hit the common man the most.
Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chancellor of the Rayat Bahra University, unveiling the new scheme said that recognizing its social responsibility and to reduce the uncertainty about the career of the students, the RBGI has launched a special scholarship for all students seeking admission to different courses.
Bahra said that the students could provisionally secure a seat in the desired course at any of the Rayat Bahra campuses. Any candidate who registers in any course at Rayat Bahra University, Bahra University, Rayat Bahra Hoshiarpur campus will be given a special onetime scholarship at entry level with a 50 percent waiver in the first semester tuition fee, he added.
He said that the decision had been taken as the Rayat Bahra Group understood the tension and confusion through which the parents and their wards were going through with respect to their career. He expressed optimism that the aspiring students would benefit from this scheme.
Bahra said that this scholarship could not be clubbed with any other scholarship or concession as the student was eligible for availing only one scholarship or concession at one time. This scholarship was limited to tuition fee payable at entry level for first semester only. The scholarship is valid for session 2020-1021 only.
